Camp Update #3 – A Wild Ride – Moving from residential to day camps. – By: Brad Wight

As we closed out our weeklong camps a couple of weeks ago, I was overwhelmed with a flood of emotions! God did so much in so many students this summer it’s hard to find the words. During the third week we had a youth group from Florida join us for camp as well as our usual camp crowd from the TN area. It was amazing to have them all in here, and to watch them bond together as one family. I found myself asking the students in which state they were from several times a day. I love watching how God can build and merge groups of people together to create the perfect environment to grow and nurture his family.

God had some new lessons to teach us that week, and what amazing lessons they were to learn. He is an awesome God. He brought 4 more students to himself. I am so thankful to be able to be a part of his family and serve him.

This is a bittersweet time of year for us as we watch our last group of residential campers depart, but we know that Jesus has brought them closer to Himself, taught them new things, and led them back out into the world to shine His light into the areas where they live. Also, we have DayCamps starting up.

We have already been through a week of them, and what a ride it has been. This year we are talking about how Jesus cares about you, not just you as a group, but you as a person. He cares about you so much that he will go after you into the darkest places. He rejoices over your salvation more than you could ever imagine. Jesus is the Good Shepherd, and we are all sheep in his flock. Our staff is telling the story of Buttons the baaaaad sheep and Wolfie, the big bad wolf, and how Jesus love transforms them both. If you want to see how, then you’ll just have to tune in to our Periscope account next week in the mornings and the afternoons. Keep an eye out for our broadcasts Tuesday-Thursday around 9:30-10 in the mornings and 3:45-4:15 in the afternoons. We had 28 campers last week and through these stories and experiences at camp, God brought 13 of them to Himself! What an amazing God that we serve!

If you want to watch our stories, get the Periscope app, find us with our tag @PathfindersCamp, and follow us! We look forward to seeing you next week!
